Collette Dowling

Artist profile:

Collette was born in Birmingham, England in 1959 and has enjoyed drawing and painting for as long as she can remember. 

She has always had an interest in metaphysical subjects and this has provided her with inspiration for many of her compositions which are drawn from imagination, and have an individual style and distinct content. 

Other interests that inspire her work are the latest scientific findings in ‘Quantum physics; ancient history and pre-history.

Collette is also a holistic therapist who has worked to bring holistic therapies into mainstream schools in the area where she lives.  

She also holds one day workshops teaching people how the simple act of creating art can be of benefit for promoting relaxation and reduce levels of stress.  Of this work she says:

“I have always found that during stressful times I could find solitude and peace in my artwork.  This has inspired me to teach others to use art as a very effective method for promoting relaxation and stress reduction during one day workshops of silk painting.”
